Russian winter

no comment needed
Just enjoy thist beauty. But not to long, it is f* cold!!!

Russian Winter Sports

Ice-skating together with Sasha, Christiane, Ilya and Genia, under open sky and thousands of stars, it is really fun! (even if the russian hip-hop music they were playing some times, was not that great).
Greatest fun anyway is it to use some plastic bags as a sledge, that is what we did at this evenign with Sasha, Christiane and Katya :-)

Monuments in Nizni...

It is really impressing how many monuments there are in every russian town. On the pics you see just the two that are never missing: The monument in memory to the soldiers, who died in second world war, usually there is a eternal fire next to the monument, and on the second picture our dear Lenin.

Nizhny Novgorod in late autumn

Just to complete the image, some more impressions of Nizhny Novgorod:

Little bridge right behind the University building with view on a churchs tower. One ot the three monuments to the famous writer Maxim Gorki in whos honnour the city of Nizhny Novgorod in soviet times was named "Gorki".
Further a picture of hte fortress (Kreml), a picture of one of the roads in the center and oune of the old and smuggly courtyards near the town center. I just love this old wooden cottages and curtyards. They kind of remember me Pippi Longsockings villa.

Walking around Kazan

This is Albina, the girl who showed me around Kazan, the capital of the Tatarstan Republic, a neighbour district of Nizhny Novgorod. As there is living the tatar people who is of musliman religion, there are a lot of mosquees, one has been (re-)built only few years ago in the very centre, the old fortress (Kreml). It is a very beautiful building and inside there is a nice museum about Islam in Russia. I have also been visiting an other mosquee, which is in real use. And I have been visiting a lot of churches, but the one on the picture, a church in russian barock style, was the one I liked best.

Dartz on Concert

So, finally some more news on my blog...okay, this concert was quite a while ago. But still, it was a great evening. Even if on the pic I am not smiling so much, believe me, I had a lot of fun this evening together with Sasha and her friends at this russian-irish-folk-concert! :-)
