For most people in Honduras, even for most of my friends it is hard to understand that the San Francisco
"Barrio" is my favourite place in Tegucigalpe. For sure I love this part of the town so much because it was here that I have been living for 6 months in 2005. I know most of the streets and shops there I know a lot of children and young people and everybody knows me. But also, I think, even if it is a dangerous and poor part of the city, it really is beautyful. First, you have an awesome view over the citiy of Tegugigalpa from there on and then, the houses, most of them build by their habitants themself are so colourful and interesting to see. Many things are improvised. And in period of rain all is very green, there are trees and wonderful flowers growing everywhere between the houses. Also, there is so much life on the streets. All the children and young people playing on the streets, older people sitting in the entries of their houses and chatting and in every house there are selling something. All the families have some kind of improvised shop. You can cut your hair, buy ice-blocks, buy, coke and chips, selfmade tortillas or cakes, bring your shoes to repair or making saw clothes. It is really full of life everwhere. I love to stroll around the streets in the San Francisco. Also I have some very good friends their and people I love very much. Some of them you can see them on this pics. There are Elvin and Bayron, volunteers of the Ludoteca, the place I have been working in 2005. And there is Nolvia, a Programme-Coordinator of the YMCA. Finally there is Yeimi with her youngest sister Maria-Jose. Yeimi is Karinas godchild and she was kind of living with us, when I used to live in Karinas family. Yeimi has about 18 years and she didnt' finish school yet. Maria-José is not even 4 years old and allready she's aunt of 4 children and soon it is going to be 5, as Yeimi is pregnant aswell. This is maybe the sader side of life in the San Francisco. So many very youn girls, without education and without any perspectives are already mothers and don't have the capacities to grow up their children. So they are growing up with their grandmothers or even great-grandmothers.
